Find a place to make a fire!

Sitting by a crackling fire is pure bliss, offering warmth and tranquility in nature. In the Woods of Halland, there are numerous fire sites and campsites where you can relax by the flames, cook a meal over the open fire, and unwind in the great outdoors. Some of these sites are located along scenic hiking and canoe trails, and some are close to refreshing bathing spots. Many are also conveniently located near areas where you can park a camper or van, making it easy to enjoy both comfort and adventure. Whether you seek the solitude of a forest corner, the serenity of a lakeside, or the thrill of a canoe journey, these varied sites offer an unforgettable experience, with something special for every nature lover.

As you enjoy your time outdoors, remember to be cautious. Always bring water with you to ensure you can safely extinguish the fire when you're done. And before lighting a fire, check if there is a fire ban in place, especially during dry conditions. A fire ban may be enacted if it's particularly dry in the forests and fields. Långesjön Shelter

Here you will find a beautiful rest area right by Långesjön, complete with a wind shelter that accommodates 4-5 people. The area also includes a fireplace and a dry toilet.

Sandsjön Shelter

Here you will find a rest area with a wind shelter that accommodates 4-5 people, a fireplace, and a dry toilet. Fishing opportunities are available at Sandsjön, but be sure to get your fishing permit.

Kvarnforsen Shelter

At Kvarnforsen, enjoy a wind shelter, fireplace and dry toilet. It's a short detour from the trail. turn toward the camp, walk through the gate, and find the shelter on a hill.

Femsjö kyrkby

Behinde the old Femsjö School, there is a firesite inside a sheltered pavilion, making it perfect for cooking over an open fire, even on rainy days. The pavilion also provides information about the local nature and history. The Femsjö hiking trails start and finish here, with signs detailing Femsjö's cultural and natural history. Restrooms are available on-site.

Gunnar's karussell, Drängsered

The year is 1972 and Gunnar is 65 years old when he decides to dam up a stream and build a waterwheel, and also install a gearbox from an old Volvo. Above the waterwheel he builds a merry-go-round and drags four garden benches onto it and bolts them to the floor. There is a barbecue area with wind shelter right next to the merry-go-round.

Halfway along the 12 km Jälluntofta Trail, there is a picturesque barbecue area with a view over Ärnarpsgölen. The trail start and car park is at the Chalanderska
in Jälluntofta.

Lindekullen

Local history park with southern Gothic cottage from the 18th century, two cottages from the 19th century, a cow shed from the 17th century and a farm building with a stage. The barbecue area is on the mound between the buildings.

Bosgårdsfallet

You’ll find this 11-metre high waterfall directly west of Torup on the left-hand side of the Falkenberg road. There was a working foundry here until the start of the 1930s. There are some beautiful walks around here and a barbecue area.

Fröslida

You’ll come to a barbecue area with benches and barbecue grill, which has been recently built on an island between the bridges. There is parking by the railway track just next to it.

Remember before making a Fire

When You Make a Fire in Woods of Halland

  • Choose a place where the fire is not likely to spread. Gravel or sandy ground are suitable surfaces.
  • It is best to use a camping stove or a designated fire pit.
  • Always bring water with you to extinguish the fire.
  • Avoid lighting a fire near anthills or stumps, as they are difficult to extinguish if they catch fire.
  • You can use fallen pinecones and loose branches on the ground as firewood. It is not allowed to chop or saw down trees and shrubs or take branches from living trees.
  • Special rules apply in nature reserves. Not all nature reserves allow fires.
  • Clean up after yourself at the site where you made the fire and do not leave any litter behind.
